Eligibility:  -To be eligible to apply for a PhD at the ICR, applicant must possess or expect to obtain a degree in a relevant subject – either an undergraduate degree (at UK first or upper second class Honours level, or an overseas qualification of equivalent standard) or a Master’s degree (either a UK Masters or an overseas qualification of equivalent standard).
-If applicant has not yet completed the relevant qualification then they are expected to be in their final year of study, and to nominate an academic referee from their  institution who can confirm the classification applicant are on track to achieve. Note that our standard expectation from undergraduate study is a first, but we will consider candidates with a good upper second.
-Candidates are also expected to have experience of relevant laboratory or research work. One of candidate’s referees must be able to comment on their research experience.
-Candidates whose first language is not English must be able to demonstrate a proficiency in English to the equivalent of an IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum of 6.0 in any one component. Students without a valid IETLS score should have either education experience in English (minimum one year) or work experience (minimum 18 months), and able to satisfy Home Office visa criteria when necessary.

Scholarships Open for International Students:  Indian students can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Description:  The Institute Of Cancer Research is inviting applications for fully-funded PhD studentships available for science graduates in the area of Cancer Research. Up to 13 studentships will be awarded for a period of four years commencing from October 2015. Students receive an annual stipend, currently £21,000 per annum, as well as having fees and project costs paid for the four-year duration. To be eligible to apply for a PhD at the ICR, applicant must possess or expect to obtain a degree in a relevant subject – either an undergraduate degree or a Master’s degree. 

Number of Award(s): The Institute offers 13 fully-funded PhD studentships, to commence study in October 2015.

Duration of Award:  The duration of award is four years.

What Does It Covers? Students receive an annual stipend, currently £21,000 per annum, as well as having fees and project costs paid for the four-year duration.

Selection Criteria: The Institute will assess candidates’ academic abilities and whether they have the energy, enthusiasm and motivation to succeed at PhD level.

How to Apply: The mode of application is online. The application form requires you to nominate two referees, one of whom must be able to comment on your research experience. They will request references from these referees immediately when your application is submitted, and will not consider applications without references. You are strongly advised to also ask your referees to respond promptly to them, and to submit your application well before the closing date to give your referees more time. 


Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is Friday 28 November 2014. The deadline for their references will be Friday 05 December 2014.
