B.Ed. Graduates Not Proficient To Coach CBSE Students

In order to maintain standards and benchmark of quality education in the state it has been proven that thes B.Ed. graduate are not competent to teach the CBSE syllabus to the students of class VI to VIII.  The poor performance  and results of teachers from AP (Andhra Pradesh) in CBSE Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET-2014) conducted last month provides evidence and reveals the pathetic quality of institutes from which they were trained and also the fortune of the students whom they would tutor in the future.

A total number of 533 D.Ed. teachers appeared for Paper-I (eligible to teach class I to V) from Andhra Pradesh of which only 26 qualified and 3,874 B.Ed. teachers took the Paper-II (eligible to teach classes V to VIII) & only 54 passed. This result shows that around 98 % of the teachers are not capable to teach CBSE/NCERT syllabus in schools.

Non-availability of experienced staff in education colleges is the main reason for the poor performance of the candidates. Lack of English language skills, competitive spirit for training students and feeling afraid of teaching CBSE and NCERT syllabus are the hazards faced by the staff,  Mr. T. Prabhakar, senior faculty at Prabhas College of Education, Vijayawada said.

CBSE each year conducts CTET exam with CBSE or NCERT syllabus for the selection of candidates on teaching posts at both the primary and secondary level of schooling. A large number of schools including Central government schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya and other prominent ones in the country follow the CBSE syllabus and appoint teachers on their performance in CTET.
